EBRD willing to invest in any project with strong transition impact worth between EUR 1 million and EUR 200 million

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) Country Director for Serbia Matteo Patrone has said EBRD 2014- 2018 strategy for Serbia focuses on the private sector, that the lender is willing to invest in any project with a strong transition impact worth between EUR 1 million and EUR 200 million, except those it does not normally support, such as those connected with arms, alcohol, and gambling. Serbia faces serious economic challenges, such as the private sector fragmentation, and it needs to improve performance in the agribusiness value chain, Patrone said, adding that that the EBRD is ready to support the authorities not only by financing projects, but also through initiatives. Since 2001, the EBRD has invested a total of EUR 3.5 billion through 176 projects in Serbia, he noted.
